Project Director & Associate Editor Tyrone L. Adams (Ph.D., Florida State University) is the Richard D'Aquin Endowed Professor of Journalism and Communications at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette.
He has been a Visiting JSA Communication Professor at Yale University (2006), Visiting Professor of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs at Southern Methodist University (2000), Visiting Scholar of Computer-mediated Communication at the University of Iowa (1998), and a Visiting Scholar of Free Speech Studies at St. Benet's Hall within the University of Oxford (1997). Specifically, Dr. Adams academic research and consulting agenda have taken a hard turn into nanotechnology and new media; especially where social uses and gratifications intersect. He is the lead author of two popular co-authored textbooks concerning online communication by leading worldwide presses: Internet Effectively (2005) by Addison-Wesley and The Internet (2001) by Harcourt College Publishers. Likewise, Dr. Adams has completed work on an anthology by the University of Texas Press titled Electronic Tribes (2008), which explores the tribal inclination of human beings in the new Web 2.0 context. His most current work, Communication Shock: The Acceleration of Everything is being published by the University of San Martin de Porres Press in both Spanish and English. The author of some 35 articles, book chapters, essays, book reviews, or software trial critiques, Professor Adams remains committed to the life of the mind -- in very practical, real-world ways.
